Mr. Joseph A. Tasso died Saturday May 13th at the Parker Home for Rehabilitation in Monroe Township. He was 79 years old.
Born in Brooklyn he lived there most of his life, graduating from Brooklyn Technical HS in 1955. He then served in the New York City Fire Department for 2 years, and finally became the owner and operator of DeKalb Auto Wrecking for over 30 years, retiring in 1990. He belonged to the Antique Automobile Club of America and owned a 1913 Buick. He moved to the Encore community in Monroe Township with his wife after retirement.
His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family and eight grandchildren, and his proudest accomplishment was being able to provide college educations for his four children so they would graduate without having to worry about repaying loans.
He was predeceased by three sisters, Marie Tasso, Ursula Reda and Joan Franco.
Surviving are his wife of almost 49 years, Rosemary (DeVito) Tasso, two daughters, Janine Scotto and her husband, Anthony of Staten Island, NY, Jacquelyn Titus and her husband, Robert of Land 'O Lakes, FL, two sons, Joseph and his wife, Kerry of Princeton Junction, NJ and John and his wife, Stephanie of Brooklyn and was "Pop Pop" to eight grandchildren, Emma and Gregory Scotto, Kathryn, Joseph and Kristina Tasso, Justin Tasso and RJ and Jackson Titus.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend the funeral liturgy to be celebrated Wednesday at 10:00am at Nativity of Our Lord RCC, 185 Applegarth Rd. Monroe Twp. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum, So. Brunswick. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home, Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Memorial contributions are respectfully requested to the Guatemalan Scholarship Fund for Children through the St. Vincent dePaul Society of Nativity of Our Lord RCC 185 Applegarth Rd.
